Very nice story and great period piece as this drama loosely weaves together the history of post WWII Japan and the global emergence of the famous Japanese trading companies, or Sogo shosha.  The story revolves around Iki Tadashi (Karasawa Toshiaki), a military strategist turned POW who upon finally returning to his family in Japan, utilizes his skill and tact to help bolster one of the companies, which is locked in heated competition with another firm.  Reluctant at first, Ikis’ talents seem to be a perfect fit for his new job, but he is drawn deeper into a world of power, betrayal and intrigue.  Karasawa acts brilliantly as the stoic yet charismatic father and husband who must balance the needs of his family with the demands of his new role: a major power player who’s actions help shape and determine Japans future.

Based on Toyoko Yamazaki?s best-selling novel, Fumo Chitai is full of suspense, mystery, heartfelt interludes and even romantic intrigue-definitely a must see for anyone interested in Post-Occupation Japan..
