I realize that they took a whole manga and put it into a movie and there are obvious time restraints to bare in mind when doing this, but the whole movie really lacked depth of feeling. No time was really spent on the motivations each character had to propel them into their actions. You have to do a lot of reading into it to actually be able to follow the story.IF you haven’t read the manga, or seen the dramas, then you are pretty much jumping from one scene to the next scratching your head trying to reach the forced conclusion. As a movie standing by itself, and not borrowing from the incredibly popular manga, it is just lacking.
Yuki Uchida is breath taking. But more character development was desperately needed for Doumyouji Tsukasa for the movie to have anyway of substance. I was disappointed. Loving the manga, enjoying the dramas that it produced, I did expect a readers digest version of this franchise, but really the whole movie needs to allow you to see into the hearts of BOTH people making up this cute high school couple.
