This is a period piece Japanese film has lots of action and a terrific storyline. It is an homage to Zatoichi films. 

Haruka Ayase gives a terrific performance as Ichi, a blind woman who is in search of the one who raised her. Her cane has a hidden sword which is a huge surprise to those who would harm her. Ichi meets Touma (played by Takao Osawa) as he tries to defend her on the road one day. They then travel together for a while.

The story is excellent - the action does not overpower the story - so the script and acting balance out nicely. The cinematography is outstanding.

If you are a fan of films from Japan, action films, or swords - this is the best of all three.
