Her mother Shioka, takes Aya to see the doctor, and he informs Shioka that Aya has spinocerebellar degeneration - a terrible disease where the cerebellum of the brain gradually deteriorates to the point where the victim cannot walk, speak, write, or eat. A cruel disease, as it does not affect the mind in the least. How will Aya react when told about her disease? And how will Aya live from now on?

She suddenly learns that she has an incourable disease called Spinocerebellar Degeneration, which affects her nervous system so that she gradually cannot control her body movements anymore, such as walking, speech and her ability to eat. Eventually this disease leads to death.
This drama portrays the slowly progressing disease with all its individual stages and their effect on Aya’s life as well as the lives of the people surrounding her incredibly detailed. You can really fell the pain she has to endure where at the same time Aya’s determination not to give up definitely is impressive.
This comes also from the fact that the real Aya’s words, poems and pictuers are included in the drama. You can feel her strength in these words and are touched by her fate.
After watching this unique story you really feel glad to be healthy and alive. It is a masterpiece of a tragic drama, beautifully implemented, that will make you cry, it is - without a doubt - worth watching..
