You have the longing to feel utterly depressed, highly anxious and/or just want to find a good excuse to clutch the hands of the person sitting next to you? Then watch this film!

Although the title might give you the impression that it is an adaption of the German fairy tale, only certain elements of the story were implemented, like the main idea of being kept in a creepy house in the forrest, not being able to escape and find the way out.

However, this horror movie (indeed) is very poetic in the way it is being narrated. On one hand you have the story, which is told in a calm but scary way and on the other hand the surrealistic visual implementation, which immediately draws the audience into the story. The visual elements somehow remind me of the movie "the cell".

However, as the movie goes on, it becomes increasingly difficult for the audience to follow the plot as it becomes unclear, which scene was "real" and which one just takes place in the "imagination".

All in all, it is really worth watching this unique movie! Although I’ve watched it a couple of years ago, but I still remember "Hansel and Gretel"..
