Yellow Boots has if not the best then one of k-drama’s best endings. You’ll have to sit through 108 episodes however. And that means you’ll roll your eyes at the heros for being so stupid (for falling for all the evil machinations of the villains time and time again), and you’ll want to personally choke the life out of the villains whose capacity for evil defies imagination (no one can be that bad!). Still, once you watch through a number of these episodes, you’ll be hooked. You’ll find yourself rooting for Sul Yeonhwa who’s been framed and jailed for a hit and run incident, not to mention for corporate spying; and you’ll look forward to the episodes when the villains, Chae Yoora, Chae Insuk, and Pak Chandoo, the villains responsible for making Sul Yeonhwa a convict, get their just desserts. I personally liked the Chae Kangwook character who ends up paying for his mother’s sin with his life while helping to save the life of Sul Yeonhwa’s child. Another character that I personally liked was Kim Taeil, a gangster who ends up marrying Sul Yeonah’s mentally challenged younger sister and whose help is critical in capturing Park Changdoo, the corrupt cop. As I said, the ending is rather extraordinary. The villain gets her just desserts, but there’s a note of repentance and remorse and possible redemption for the villain Chae Yoora which is subtle and very artfully depicted. In fact it’s so good, it’s worth having to sit through 108 episodes.
