Almost gave this movie a perfect rating, the story I loved as it was not only unique but highly entertaining. The comedy aspect alone makes this a must watch movie. I was a big fan of the anime so when I saw this I thought it was a perfect live action movie to fit the anime which is so rare to do now a days. The cast is a bit weak except for the main character played by Kenichi Matsuyama (Death Note, Nana, Gokusen, 1 Liter of Tears) who really makes the movie. His ability to transform between the nice folk singer Negishi to the sinister death metal singer Krauser is a sight to see. They also had Rosa Kato (Koishite Akuma) which is a decent actress and played the role of the love interest. Also a nice little cameo from Gene Simmons (Detroit Rock City, The New Guy) really makes for an interesting scene and good ending. The music, depending on what you prefer, is really awesome. I mean it has to be which the theme of this movie revolving around music. The famous song Satsugai is somewhat enhanced in the movie from the anime as it’s much harder and faster. Also Amai Koibito song really shows the contrast between the pop folk style to the hardcore death metal style in the movie.

Great movie full of comedy, music, drama and good times. GO TO DMC!.
