The acting in this movie was outstanding.  Ranging in ages from 13 yr old girls to 80+ men, the movie although fiction represents the Japanese code of honor and dedication.  Why is it that it is always the innocent ones who suffer most during times of war?  And that indoctrination can be so pervasive to a society. If I learned anything from this movie, it is that our young people are vunerable to that which a government teaches.  I highly recommend this movie.
