It starts right with the break-up of Xiaoxian and her boyfriend. The happy relationship they are supposed to have had can only be seen through some short flashbacks throughout the movie. That means that the viewer gets thrown into the sadness and missery of the main character immediately. That is a bit annoying because you have not started to like her yet but have to endure all her weeping.

But from that point on the movie works its way slowly from the bad to the good times. Especially when Xiaoxian starts her interactions with Jian the funny moments get more and more. He is a hilarious and lovable character and made this movie an enjoyable pastime. His jokes are unexpected but incredibly funny.

Apart from that the mood is rather calm. Different types of relationships can be seen and are analyzed by Xiaoxian. In the end the only conclusion is that love is never perfect and something different for everyone.

A very likable movie that is worth the watch. Maybe it even gives you a few butterflies in your stomach altough they do not come in a storm but rather a gentle breeze…
