Brotherly Love to Its Highest Level...

I saw this film a few years ago. And never forgot it ever since. It is often compared to Hollywood’s Saving Private Ryan. I think the difference of both movies from each other is the execution of the story. While Saving Private Ryan was more technically sound, what I think Taekgukgi’s advantage is the human story and the relationship the two brothers shared together. It is a story of two brothers, Jin-Tae and Jin-Seok. When both were forced to enlist for the Korean War. Many young man were recruited right of from the streets. Over the course of time, the two brothers will go from young men to hardened soldiers.
You would really appreciate the movie, as it covers the Korean War history, which really don’t get a lot of attention from American cinemas. And the portrayal of the two actors, Jang Dong Gun and Won Bin also deserves recognition. The ending of the movie is highly artistic. It approaches the movie from realistic standpoint. You will never regret watching this gem of a movie!.
