The instinct to survive at all costs….it is in every living thing. Without love and kindness and caring anything can die. This story of a little boy’s love and the animals instinct to survive because of that love is a tribute to the need of all living things. It’s not about what one can see or hear or smell, but what one feels and senses from the other.  The boy needed his mothers love but she was off somewhere doing her thing leaving him behind.  He transferred his need to the animal who had no mother. The Dr. wanted to give up on the animal saying it was suffering but the boys instinct to love and give love overpowered the suffering and gave the animal instinct to survive. The young girl having lost her mothers love due to death of mother, learned from this young boy what it meant to keep on trying and not give up.  The end was not about the animal having to die because of illness but that it lived despite illness because it was loved and died loved so it lived happily while it could.  The end for the people in the story was not giving up despite what they had experienced or think how things should be, but Instinctively we all seek to keep on living, to survive. With love we can survive through the bad times, overcoming trials and become better in the end if we allow the that love in..
