I honestly learned a lot from that movie! It kinda broke a lot of the misconception normal people would have of the geishas (geiko?) and was very entertaining to watch, even made me cry at some point. Inoue Mao, which is one of my favorite actress, has done a great job in this movie. She was also very young when she filmed it, so props to her.

I also read somewhere that Mineko Iwasaki herself taught the Gion dialect to Inoue Mao and also to the other actresses, and helped them to portray better geikos by teaching them manners of a real geiko and other..

Through the movie, we also learn a valuable message, which is to persevere, to have dignity, and to continue to live on when something bad happens.

Conclusion, that movie was very inspiring and I don’t regret watching it ! :).
