Easy Tiger, they have made Jang out to be bit of a cardboard villainess now, which is a bit disappointing, since the character had more depth at the beginning. Jang was wise enough to foreshadow that the King was developing feelings for Dong Yi long before the King knew it himself but did nothing then.

Yes I agree. the queen's intelligence and preceptive nature is also underplayed here. The real battle is between the concubine and the queen. DY is highlighted because of her kind nature, good sense of right and wrong, and most of all she being a lowborn, has the freedom to act without the constraints of court rules. Jang has to accomplish what she set out to, when she entered the court,to catch the eye of the womanising king. she did, step by step.Great strategist. The queen just,wise and stern would have made one hell of Judge in the court of law. The king may have earned credibility with his rule through these women. still waiting....POISON BOWL......

i am also wondering here. With the Jang out, the queen Out, how the hell did he manage to govern his kingdom. he went back to studying again? married more clever women to do his work for him.Then again,jang was the good guy to start with, cautioning her servant for bringing in medicine from outside, feeling sorry for an underdog and even fighting for her. it seems like her intelligence, and love for her family is misused by her power crazy family. Possibilly the insecure mother(because she was just a concubine to the merchant - jang's father).

When the king executes the wrongdoer, dont the whole family go with with them?

Jang, isn't the daughter of a slave but still lowborn - I don't know her mothers' exact status but it must have been pretty low just a commoner, if not even slave. Remember Jang caught the King's eye while pretty much at the same position DY is now at - as a palace maid; so she must feel a little insecure that she can be replaced or the King can always have his fancy taken by someone else in a similar position.
