Oh! this king. he does not know martial arts, gets beaten at chess by lady jang,seems to be good at academics (thank god) led by the nose by this charming concubine of his. A supposedly astute politician,seeing that noron,old learning should be replaced by soron,new learning, for the progress of his country, could not catch! the culprits nearer home? perhaps that is why he needs Dong Yi.As this drama progresses I feel the Queen is sadly undermined for her loyalty and intelligence,most of all her keen sense of fairplay.Behind every succesful man there is pain, behind every powerful man there is a sexy female. Nevertheless, the king naming jang's child as the successor to the throne, may have given dong yi the ambition and determination for grooming her son too, later on, after she becomes his concubine. Afterall, if the king has no qualms of child born of a half low born, why should he of a low born? He has considered them worthy as people. Maybe that is why, the norons did not favour well with him.

Bless you tressha. Yeah......good to be in the basket;same boat or whatever LOL. Actually the drama is nothing much I am sure there would be flurry of reactions to that statement!!! but the classic poor girl with nothing, falling in love with a prince keeps me interested.I like korean style of acting and most of their dialogue, not the stereotype cliches there are some meaningful and thought provoking scripts in their dramas. Please keep finding the episodes for us. You, al25200,DarkUmagon are greatly appreciated. Thank YOU.and please,please, let episode 17 come fast, ha ha,ha OMG i am crazy.

well but you don;t seem to like the king all that much lol- though I can understand where you;re coming from on these. But I find your statements to be fair, if a bit too much at times but I can;t help reading them - so persuasive lol. There are better period pieces, I think Jejoongwon, for one, is a much better overal historical- and Jewel in the Palace, but I like this one a lot too, I am probably too biased because I am going through a Ji Jin Hee phase. I do quite like him. Then there is a number of others like iljimae, chuno, queen seok duk etc i think the variety is enough for everyone to find their favourite style. - which os very fortunate.

And despite sometimes being somewhat reactionary to your comments, I do enjoy reading them- add excitement lol (I am the same person who c ommented acopule of epoisodes back on your comment about age which i found tio be very agist)

I'm currently hooked to Korean Historical drama for this season - I'm loving Ji Jin Hee and Han Hyo Joo here..and also the little Dong Yi - Kim Yoo Jun (I also loved her in The moon that embraces the Sun). Han Hyo Joo is perfect for the role - and now I'm loving Dong Yi too which I didn't expect. I'm reading comments about the King below and how the story is making him look like a weak king -- We must remember, that Kings in the past , in all nations have different characteristics and attitudes that make them a good, bad, strong and weak King... This is a wonderful story!
