hmmm this is not a good moral story to tell....

Sorry, but I refuse to watch anymore of this drama. It gives a wrong message to young viewers, saying that their external beauty is their only way to accomplish themselves. Not only does this drama give a wrong message, but it stupidly insists on it in every sentence of every dialog. Well, I know a better dialog, written by Plato, which talks of honoring one's intelligence and wisdom instead of one's appearance.

I really don't think that the message of this drama is that external beauty is the most important thing. Sure the nurses talk like that but I expect everyone in that buissness to have those believes. Mine-sensei is also clearly against it which can be seen throughout the episode.
I think that this drama will tell Mine's side of plastic surgery rather than ideals that exist in todays society. And it's only the first episode aswell..

I don't think there is any bias against or for plastic surgery. I think it just gives us a glimpse of the societies most people live in a very settled way. Also how people who aren't "Perfect Looking" By there standard and societies standards feel about them selves and that most people would rather change the way they look. It is simply a realistic approach to everyday life. At least for the first episode. ^_^

Folks, lets face it, there are parts of ourselves we would like to change, and those who have the will to so, do.
If a young girl takes from this that she wants surgery, that is her right. If another young girl looks at this and says to herself she likes herself the way she is, that is her right, too.
I hate how people blame the media and television shows for swaying "impressionable minds". If they were raised properly to think for themselves, watching TV shouldn't sway them.
And even if some young viewer said after watching this that they want plastic surgery, because they hate their large butt, or want someone else's large butt, it's their god given right to do so. What you do with your body is between you and your deity.

Leave it to the Japanese to give moral justification for something as frivolous as plastic surgery. This seems like another childish attempt at condoning conformity.

This is a drama, so does it always have to send the right message. Even in the US we have a lot of plastic surgeries that are done just for beauty sake. The world looks at the outer self, but we know what is on the inside. I am in the beauty business and we strive to make people look good every day. People are the same world wide. Everyone wants to look good. I don;t know of this story has happy endings for all the patients but I am going to give it a chance.
